「蘆山寺」は、平安時代の天慶年中（938～947年）船岡山の南に創建されたのが
始まりです。蘆山寺は室町時代の応仁の乱やたびたびの火事で
いくども消失しましたが、そのたび再興されてきました。
明治維新までは「御黒戸四箇院」という宮中の仏事を司る四か寺のひとつでした。
しかし廃仏毀釈により宮中から天台宗預かりとなり、明治天皇の勅命によって
蘆山寺だけが復興されて今日に至っています。

見所いっぱい！夏の「龍安寺」
8月21日(日)右京区の龍安寺（りょうあんじ）へと行きました。
漢字では、竜安寺とも書きますが、龍安寺が正式名称です。

《龍安寺の歴史》
龍安寺は、臨済宗妙心寺派の禅寺です。
歴史は、宝徳2年(1450年)に 禅寺として始まりました。
龍安寺の敷地面積は広くて、総面積は約50万平方メートル（15万坪）。
東京ドームの10.7個分です。
案内板の中央上部に有名な石庭があり、下部には鏡容池（きょうようち）が
あります。
緑美しい参道を方丈（本堂）へと向かいます。
≪禅の世界広がるロックガーデン≫
方丈（本堂）に入りました。
龍安寺では、2021年12月～2022年3月まで拝観を休止して行われた修復工事で
石庭を囲む油土塀が美しさを取り戻しています。
龍安寺は、1975年に英国のエリザベス女王が訪問された時、
石庭を絶賛された事から日本国内にとどまらず、世界的にも「ロックガーデン」
として一躍有名になりました。
以来、｢龍安寺といえば石庭｣といわれますが
元々は、石庭よりも庭園の方が有名だったそうです。
龍安寺の石庭の歴史は、応仁の乱でお寺が焼失した後、
1499年に方丈を再建した際に石庭も築造されたと言われています。
しかし、その作られた理由や作庭者もわかっていないことから、さまざまな
謎や憶測が生まれ、それが今でも多くの人を魅了する要素の一つになっています。
龍安寺の石庭のスタイルは、水を使わず山や川を表現する
「枯山水」(かれさんすい）。
約75坪の長方形の枯山水庭園を前に、心を静め自然や世界や宇宙を想像する
イマジネーションの世界は、禅の美徳ともされています。
《圧巻の龍の襖絵》
京都の寺院に行きますと龍の天井絵や襖絵に出会います。
寺院に描かれた龍は、仏法を守る象徴と言われています。龍は、金魚が鯉になり、
鯉が滝を昇り、さらに空に昇り龍に化身すると言われています。
天に昇った龍は龍神となり、水を司る神となります。
寺院で見られる雲龍絵は、仏法を守る象徴であると共に、渇水対策の雨乞いや
水難防止・火災除け等の祈願とも伝わります。
2022年は龍安寺を創建した細川勝元公の550年忌。
これを記念して、2022年5月に奉納されたばかりの元首相・細川護熙氏の「雲龍図」の方丈（本堂）襖絵もみどころです！
《京の夏の旅》
京の夏の旅・特別拝観では、龍安寺・仏殿・西の庭が公開されています。
特別公開の仏殿は、昭和56年に再建された総檜造(そうひのきづくり)の建物で、
天井には墨と金泥(きんでい)で龍が描かれており、本尊・釈迦如来像と、
天皇家や歴代住職の位牌が安置されています。その西側に広がる「西の庭」は、
室町時代の庭を復元した回遊式庭園で、龍安寺を創建した室町幕府管領(かんれい)・細川勝元の木像を祀る細川廟が建っています。

白砂壇に見るアートの世界「法然院」
左京区鹿ヶ谷にある法然院へと行きました。
山門に続く道を歩きます。この辺りは緑が深く静かな世界が広がります。
法然院は散策自由で、6時から16時まで拝観できます。
深い緑の中に茅葺き屋根の山門もしっとりとしています。
法然院は天和元年（1681年）の建立。800年以上の歴史を持つ
法然上人ゆかりの寺院です。
寺院のお墓には、作家・谷崎潤一郎さんも眠っておられます。
山門の横の石碑に記されるのは、「不許葷辛酒肉入山門」の文字。
「葷辛酒肉（くんしんしゅにく）山門に入るを許さず」とは、葱やニンニク等の
臭いの強い野菜や酒や肉を山門内に持ち込むことを禁ずるとのこと。
《白砂壇》
山門をくぐると参道の左右に見えるのが、盛砂の白砂壇(びゃくさだん）です。
砂壇の間を通ると、心身を清めて浄域に入ることを意味しています。
縦7m横3mの砂紋模様は、水紋 波 渦 葉 花・・・
時には文字などの模様も組み合わされ僧により描き換えられています。
この日の模様は線で表した造形模様。
深い緑の中に、水や大気の流れを連想するアートの世界に
しばし暑さも忘れました。

散策自由（伽藍内特別公開の期間中、伽藍内の拝観は有料）

二年坂から三年坂・・夏の日の「八坂の塔」
暑いですね。京都も連続の猛暑日が続いています。
京都の暑さは「油照り」と例えられる様に盆地特有の、まとわりつくような暑さです。
15日の朝、東山「八坂の塔」（法観寺）の辺りを散策して来ました。
東大路通りから八坂通へと入ると、46mの八坂の塔が現れます。
狭い石畳の道の奥に凛として建つ姿は格別です。
八坂の塔の歴史は古く、飛鳥時代に聖徳太子が建てた、日本最初の五重塔といわれています。
その後、八坂の塔は戦いや落雷で三度焼失。
現在の塔は、室町将軍の足利義教によって1440年に再建され今に至っています。
江戸時代初期には、観光の名所だったらしく当時の名所案内には絵入りで
紹介されていたそうです。
《百日紅と八坂の塔》
幕末の頃は、坂本龍馬さんや新撰組の人達も、この塔を
見上げながら東山界隈を駆け抜けていたのでしょうね。
夏の今、百日紅が綺麗に咲いています。

四条河原町から京都市営バス207号系統「東山安井」下車
八坂の塔から二年坂（二寧坂）三年坂（産寧坂）へと歩きます。
お盆の早朝ということもあり、静かな世界が広がっていました。
二年坂から三年坂の辺りは、古くから清水寺の参道の一部として栄えてきました。
坂道の両側には、京都らしい和風の建物が並び、その多くが土産物店です。
《坂道が続く東山界隈》
東山界隈には坂道が数多くあります。
清水寺への参道は「清水坂」。そこに連なる二年坂（二寧坂）三年坂（産寧坂）。
そのすぐ近くには「一念坂」もあります。
また清水坂の南には清水焼のお店が軒を連ねる「ちゃわん坂」という坂もあります。
八坂の塔が建つこの一帯は八坂とよばれているように、坂道の多い所でもあり、
八坂という地名も、その昔この辺りに8つの坂があったことに由来するとか。
《龍馬坂》
そして、二年坂から左に入った所にあるのが龍馬坂。
ここは慶応3年・11月、海援隊士や陸援隊士らによる
坂本龍馬と中岡慎太郎の葬列が通った道。
誰が言うともなく「龍馬坂」と呼ばれるようになりました。
坂は正法寺方面に続いて行きます。
坂を少し上がると八坂の塔が見えます。
《二年坂(二寧坂)・三年坂(産寧坂)の由来》
二年坂・三年坂の由来ですが、戦国時代の武将・豊臣秀吉の妻、「ねね」の
菩提寺（お墓があるお寺）は高台寺ですが、当時近くに住居を構えていた「ねね」は、無事に元気な子供が生まれることを願って、この坂を上がり清水寺にお参りしていました。
そのことから、安産を願う文字を当てはめて「産寧坂（さんねんざか）」と
よばれるようになり、その下の坂を「二年坂（二寧坂）」と呼ぶように
なったと伝えられています。

夏限定「風鈴祈願」松尾大社
西京区の松尾大社に夏限定の「風鈴祈願」を訪ねてきました。
松尾大社は、京都のメインストリート四条通の西の端に位置しています。
アクセスは阪急電車が便利で、阪急嵐山線「松尾大社」駅を下車するとすぐ目の前です。
JR京都駅からの市バスでは約40分ほど。
車でのアクセスは、物集女街道（29号線）を嵐山方面へ進むと松尾大社が見えます。
《松尾大社の歴史》
大宝元（701）年、秦忌寸都理（はたのいみきとり）により、松尾山の頂上付近・大杉谷の磐座の神霊を社殿に移したことに始まり、平安遷都のあと賀茂神社とともに王城鎮護の社とされ「賀茂の厳神、松尾の猛霊」と称されました。
古くからお酒の神様として信仰を集めています。
《風鈴祈願》
夏限定の「風鈴祈願」は、楼門をくぐって右手にある手水舎のとろこや授与所の天井や境内のあちこちにも風鈴が飾られています。
授与所では、風鈴に付ける短冊が用意されています。（短冊祈願料500円）
春の松尾大社は、一の井川沿いを中心に数約3000本と言われる山吹の花が咲くところですが、今はたくさんの風鈴が涼しげな音色を奏でています。
松尾大社境内では、5月中旬から色とりどりの風鈴が飾られています。
大社では、コロナがはじまった2020年から風鈴の飾り付けをはじめ、年々数を増やして今年2022年はおよそ600個が並びました。
風鈴は、9月末まで飾られています。
